NKD Yoga for men

This group was started by the visionary Nickles Spencer in 2010.

We have seen members of the group join in years long relationships.

We have supported each other through massive life changes.

We invite you to join us for classes and retreats and to become part of this community and family.

WHY NKD?

This is a non-judgemental body-positive space.

We don’t judge each other’s practice or each other’s bodies.

The “NKD” part can cause some anxiety.

But it’s a bit like going on the beach and that moment you take your t-shirt off.

You forget you did it 5 minutes later and wondered what all of the fuss was about.

“What if I get a stiffy?” “What if I don’t get a stiffy?”

The honest answer is that we don’t care if you do or you don’t.

The more we practice yoga together the more we realise how amazing all of our bodies are.

A TYPICAL CLASS

We meet once a week.

One week we meet in Vauxhall and the following week in Islington.

Each class is 90 minutes long which really gives us time to explore different aspects of the practice.

If you’ve never done yoga before you are very welcome to join us.

We all feel before we start yoga that we might not be flexible enough.

Maybe we feel too creaky and achey.

Yoga is designed to help with those feelings, not make them worse.

If you already have a practice you’re welcome to come.

I hope you will enjoy coming to a class which is more about connecting with your other yogis.

A class where the practice doesn’t end at the corners of your mat.

Each 90 minute class includes stretches, standing postures, balances and always partner work.

We help each balance, and stretch and relax.

We also slow down, relax and come back to ourselves.

Please bring your own mat!

ABOUT IAN

I came to yoga as a very overweight huffy guy.

Since I was a young boy I have been interested in meditation.

It wasn’t until I was very stressed at work and went to a yoga class that I realised how transformative the practice is.

Since then I have done yoga nearly every day for more than ten years, through injury (non-yoga related) and loss yoga has helped me navigate those “seasons of my life”.

It was inevitable that I would train to teach this practice and I have trained with some of the world’s leading teachers including Norman Blair, Anna Ashby, Jessica Stewart, Stewart Gilchrist and Jason Crandall.

I am a registered 200 hour teacher (plus many more hours of teacher training) with Yoga Alliance International.

I would love to share this practice with you and I hope you can join us.

WHEN AND WHERE AND HOW MUCH

We practice once a week.

One week in Vauxhall at 7pm-8.30pm on a Wednesday.

The following week on a Thursday in Islington from 7.30pm-9pm.

After both some of the group will go on to a nearby pub for a drink, there is also a very active WhatsApp group where we organise theatre and cultural trips as well as chat about our lives.

The classes are priced at £20 a class.

If you buy 5 classes I’ll throw in a 6th for free.

If you bring a new member to class you get a free class.
